A. Screening/Medical Check-up:

Medical check-ups are important as a preventive measure of major diseases, by finding the problems and symptoms in every body system of a patient. It is vital as some symptoms will not appear visibly, which frequently occurs to diseases such as cancer and heart problems. Check-ups provide an opportunity for doctors to closely monitor patients’ health and assist with the prevention of disease and illness.

Check-ups are not only for personal health benefits. It is alsofor employment and tertiary education admission. The objective is not to eliminate unhealthy candidate from the post, but rather understanding the probability of risk carried by their prospective candidate, and managing these risks with proper rehabilitation, caution and medication with the aim of avoiding illness or injury once they joined the organization.

It is recommended to have the medical check-up annually, particularly those with chronic health problems, a complicated health history or a genetic susceptibility to certain conditions.

For preparations for medical check-up, the requirements are; having enough sleep, bringing your IC and medical reports (if required). Some test requires for special instructions, etc. eating, smoking, and coffee, so consult with our doctors for better preparations.

We are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment’s such as Electrocardiogram (EKG), Nebulizer, Ultrasound, Full Blood Count Machine, Urine Analyzer, and DRGEMGXR X-ray, to give the patients a quick, effective and reliable test results and treatment.

B. Primary Care Treatment:

Primary care is the first degree of treatment practice, administered to patients that suffer from variety of symptoms and diseases, such as flu, fever, bruises, and cramps and recently counselling for depression and substance abuse. Primary care can be divided into few categories, mainly are family medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics and women’s health.

Primary care includes health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counselling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of health care settings.

Our primary care physicians are well trained and dedicated to give the best treatment for patients.

C. Emergency Treatment

Accident Care is for treating patients who have been victims of an auto, work or personal injury accident, providing the therapeutic care needed for a complete recovery. Our centralized focus is on ensuring your health and wellbeing and facilitating your recovery in a calm, welcoming, and caring environment.

D. Immunizations and Vaccinations (Children, Adults, Travel Vaccines):

Immunization is the process of administration of a vaccine (Bacteria that have been killed or weakened)in order tobuild immunity or resistant to an infectious disease. Vaccines stimulate the body’s own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease.Examples of diseases prevented aremeasles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough).

Immunization is very vital for controlling and removing life-threatening infectious diseases.Estimated between 2 and 3 million deaths are avoided each year due this immunization. In the long run, it is one of the most cost-effective health investments, and accessible to even the most remote populations. There are clearly defined target groups with factors such as age, gender and environment. Immunizations are important for children and adults.

KlinikMedilife offers immunization to combat various illnesses. We believe ‘Prevention Is Better than Cure”. Make an appointment with us to fix the schedule and preparations needed for immunization.

E. Screening & Tests:

Laboratory test are vital for determining the presence of diseases in various body systems of a patient. Example of body systems are endocrine system, immune system, cardiovascular system and respiratory system. Hence, the tests require samples from body, both external and internal such as blood, urine and body tissue.

The objective of tests is to determine whether the patient’s results fall within the normal range of medical standards. They also help doctors diagnose medical conditions, plan or evaluate treatments, and monitor diseases.

Regular check-ups and tests are important for preventive measures.

A complete blood test is carried out to:

  • Determine the cause of symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, fever, bruising, or weight loss.
  • Check for anaemia
  • Diagnose polycythaemia
  • Diagnose for an infection
  • Diagnose diseases, such as leukaemia
  • Determine the body’s reaction to certain drugs and procedures
  • Screening for high and low values before a surgery
  • Determine the number of certain types of cells such as basophil and eosinophils.

For blood test, we use MS4s haematology machine which has 18 parameters (L-M-G) and 3 histograms (visualised and printed), able to process 60 samples per hour and 3 pre-programmed digital data banks (Man, Woman, New Born) and 2 undefined banks. The results are within minutes.

Urine test is carried out to check for a disease or infection of the urinary tract. A regular urinalysis often includes the following tests:

  • Colour. Urine colour is affected by variety of reasons, including fluid balance, diet, medicines, and diseases. For example, Vitamin B supplements can turn urine bright yellow and items such as blackberries, beets, or blood in the urine can turn urine red-brown.The darkness of urine indicates the level of water in the urine.  The darker the colour, the less water in a person’s body.
  • Clarity. Urine is normally clear. If it is cloudy, it may due to bacteria, blood, sperm, crystals, or mucus
  • Odour. Urine does not smell very strong. Some diseases cause a change in the odour of urine. For example, ammonia-like smell indicates an infection or urinary stones. Diabetes or starvation can cause a sweet, fruity odour.
  • Specific gravity. This detects the level of amount of substances in urine. It also indicates how well the kidneys regulate the amount of water in urine. The higher the specific gravity, the more solid material is in urine, which shows low amount of water in urine.
  • pH. The pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline the urine is. A urine pH of 4 is strongly acidic, 7 is neutral and 9 is strongly alkaline.
  • Protein. Protein normally isn't found in the urine. However, fever, vigorous exercise, pregnancy, and certain diseases, especially kidney disease, may cause protein to be present in urine.
  • Glucose.  Normally there is very little or no glucose in urine. Glucose is present in urine if blood sugar level is very high; especially for diabetic or kidneys failure patients.
  • Nitrites. Bacteria that cause a urinary tract infection (UTI) make an enzyme that changes urinary nitrates to nitrites. Nitrites in urine show a UTI is present.
  • Leukocyte esterase (WBC esterase). Leukocyte esterase shows leukocytes (white blood cells [WBCs]) in the urine. WBCs in the urine may mean a UTI is present.
  • Ketones. When fat is metabolised for energy, the body makes substances called ketones. These are passed in the urine. Large amounts of ketones in the urine may indicatediabetic ketoacidosis. A diet low in carbohydrates, starvation, or severe vomiting may also cause ketones to be in the urine.
  • Red or white blood cells. Blood cells aren't found in urine normally. Inflammation, disease, or injury to the kidneys, ureters, bladder and vigorous exercise, can cause blood in the urine. White blood cells presence may be a sign of infection or kidney disease.
  • Casts. Some types of kidney disease can cause plugs of material (called casts) to form in tiny tubes in the kidneys. The casts then get flushed out in the urine. Casts can be made of red or white blood cells, waxy or fatty substances, or protein.
  • Crystals. Only a few crystals should be present in urine. A large number of crystals, or certain types of crystals, may mean kidney stones are present or there is a problem with body’s metabolism.
  • Bacteria, yeast cells, or parasites. Usually no bacteria, yeast cells, or parasites present in urine. If these are present, it can mean you have an infection.

For urine test, Uri-Trak™ 120 is capable for up to 120 tests per hour in continuous test mode. One of the safety features is prevention of testing without passing Quality Control (QC). QC will be done every 8 hours, which results in accurate measurements of analysis every time.

F. X-Ray (Digital):

X-Ray Scanning is a non-invasive procedure that creates pictures of structures inside the patients’ chest such as heart, lungs, and blood vessels. The test functions to find the reason of symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, chronic cough and fever.

A chest X-ray can reveal many things inside your body, including:

  1. Lungs: Chest X-rays able to detect cancer, infections, pneumothorax, emphysema or cystic fibrosis and pulmonary edema.
  2. Heart:  Chest X-ray can reveal changes in the size and shape ofheart, which may indicate heart failure, pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart) or heart valve problems.
  3. Blood vessels: Scan on aorta, pulmonary artery and veins in heart may reveal aortic aneurysms, other blood vessel problems or congenital heart disease.
  4. Calcium deposits: Detectionof presence of calcium in your heart or blood vessels, which mayaffect heart valves, coronary arteries or heart muscle.
  5. Fractures:  Rib or spine fractures.

With our state-of-the-art X-Ray machine, the DRGEM GXR X-ray system is designed with complete consideration for both operator and patient comfort, and specially designed for minimizing electrical lock noise. It is equipped with a high frequency X-ray generator which consistently produces high quality images based on high quality X-ray output with a very small kV ripple and accurate mA and timer control.
